As part of the Bicentennial of Photography, the City of Villeneuve-Loubet is inaugurating its 1st Photography Fortnight on the theme of Inhabited Territories. For two weeks, from November 9th to 23rd, eight cultural venues in the commune – public and private – will open their doors for free exhibitions showcasing the richness of photographic approaches.
Guest of honor, François Deladerrière, presents at the Espace Culturel André Malraux a sensitive dialogue between past and present with his series Nice et Savoie, un regard contemporain (2010). This exhibition, shown for the first time in the Alpes-Maritimes, highlights the evolution of the territories.
The presence of François Deladerrière lends an exceptional dimension to this first edition. Other artists such as Roberto Giangrande (Villa Barbéris), Orphée Grisvard Pontieux (Musée d’Histoire et d’Art), Patrice Chaminade (Maïoun des Ganouiés), as well as exhibitions by Willy Ronis (GrandPalaisRmn and the médiathèque du Patrimoine et de la Photographie at the Parc des Petits Princes within the Pôle Culturel Auguste Escoffier) also enrich the program.
Archival photographs, including those from the Barbéris joinery, the heritage collection dedicated to Auguste Escoffier (courtyard of the Musée Escoffier de l’art culinaire), and old postcards from the municipal archives, traverse time and nourish the memory of the territory.
The collectif Photon at the Espace Tosti and the media library, with exhibitions by Loïc Leterme and their collection of books on photography, also contribute to multiplying the approaches.
An open-air exhibition, installed on urban furniture, offers photography under the sky. Artistic practice workshops are also offered to children.
The festival also features a rich program of screenings, films, conferences, and photographic practice workshops for children, all with free access.
