This event is organized in collaboration with the Diabetology Department of the Hospital Center, its head Dr. Blandine DELENNE, and the team from UMEDia, the Mobile Unit for Diabetes Education. The program includes an interactive game, a panel discussion on topics such as breathing, sophrology, and self-image, as well as a dance session.
Diabetes, a chronic disease characterized by high blood sugar (hyperglycemia), affects over 4 million people in France. In the PACA region, the prevalence was 6.2% in 2020, with 6.4% in Bouches-du-Rhône. Diagnosis is made through a blood glucose test.
There are two types of diabetes: type 1, due to a lack of insulin secretion, and type 2, related to the body's inefficient use of insulin, which has been expanding for many years. Treatment aims to normalize blood glucose levels, ideally combined with a balanced diet and regular physical activity.
