The project involves interventions around the entire pond to improve pathways, secure the surroundings, and create new areas for rest, contemplation, and fishing. The banks will be partially restored using bio-engineering techniques, including the installation of helophyte logs, to strengthen them and promote vegetation growth.
The "Rotule" area in the park's center will be transformed into a multi-use central esplanade, with the addition of a ramp accessible to people with reduced mobility. Pathways will be restored and some areas reorganized to facilitate movement and various park uses. New amenities such as benches, picnic tables, lounge chairs, bicycle racks, and waste bins will be installed, favoring materials like wood and natural stone.
Vegetation is a key focus, with the development of Mediterranean plant beds, rustic meadows, and mixed hedges to enhance ecological connectivity and landscape integration. The plant selection prioritizes species adapted to local conditions and drought-resistant, including hackberries, maples, oaks, and pistachios, with plantings requiring minimal maintenance and watering.
Work is scheduled to begin on Monday, October 19, 2026, and will last for six months, concluding on Monday, April 12, 2027. The site will be closed to the public for the duration of the construction for safety reasons.
