The Aix-Marseille-Provence Metropolis is launching a public consultation from Saturday, October 10 to Sunday, November 8 on its draft second metropolitan plan for the prevention of household and assimilated waste, which will come into effect on January 1, 2027.

This plan aims to achieve the national objective of reducing waste production by 15% per inhabitant by 2030 compared to 2010, in accordance with the AGEC law. Initial results since 2010 are already encouraging, with a 14% decrease in household waste per inhabitant across the metropolitan area.
The new plan emphasizes local solutions for residents and the development of dedicated sectors. It builds on the evaluation of the first prevention plan and analyses of bin contents to identify waste that can be avoided, composted, or reused.
This consultation, a mandatory regulatory step, offers citizens an opportunity to make their voices heard. The Metropolis seeks to gather their comments on the proposed actions and their ideas to enrich the plan before its adoption, scheduled for January 1, 2027.
