The Cazemajou district is undergoing a metamorphosis with the unveiling of a monumental artwork by South African artist FAITH47. This creation, now adorning the facade of the student residence at La Plateforme campus, is part of the evolution of this strategic area between the city and the port of Marseille.
The artwork, titled a large sun, is composed of 540 reflective golden triangles. Its unique design promises to shift its reflections throughout the day, offering a new visual landmark in the urban landscape of Marseille.
Produced by Unik Art Agency and funded by Icade, this artistic installation is an integral part of the urban renewal project for Cazemajou, aimed at revitalizing the zone.
La Plateforme campus is one of the major projects in this sector. It will house a school dedicated to digital professions, a residence offering 230 student accommodations, as well as cultural facilities including a cinema, an auditorium, and an outpost of the French Cinémathèque.
Around the future Place des Libertés, the district will also see the emergence of new housing, office spaces, shops, and restaurants, contributing to the creation of a dynamic new living space.
Since late 2024, Euroméditerranée has been actively supporting the renewal of this area, formerly marked by industrial and artisanal brownfields, located between the Briançon and Crottes neighborhoods.
The developments include the creation of calm public spaces, enhanced promotion of soft mobility, and the integration of vegetation adapted to the Mediterranean climate, gradually shaping a new identity for Cazemajou.
