La Seyne-sur-Mer is set to welcome local production of tropical fruits, notably bananas, thanks to the redevelopment of the Coste Chaude lands. A rural lease has been signed between the City and farmer Isabelle Pertois.

Mayor Dorian Munoz expressed his satisfaction with the realization of a "very high quality" agricultural project on the Coste Chaude lands. This Thursday, November 1st, the rural lease was signed at the town hall with Isabelle Pertois, an agricultural entrepreneur and head of Domaine L’Enregado. She will develop her production on a plot of nearly three hectares, including a 225 m² technical building.
Isabelle Pertois, already managing an organic farm and climate-adapted tropical fruits in Ollioules, will transfer her headquarters and direct sales point to La Seyne. Her production will expand to include citrus fruits, papayas, guavas, dragon fruits, and avocados, in addition to her ambition to establish a local banana industry. She is collaborating with Agribiov ar for the sector and the recognition of a PGI (Protected Geographical Indication), and is working with an alchemist to valorize plant fiber as a replacement for plastic.
The goal is to make local bananas competitive against imports. Cultivation, in open fields and under a photovoltaic bioclimatic greenhouse, will require two years before the first harvests. Securing the water supply is a priority, as banana cultivation requires less water than tomatoes. Some pine trees will be felled, while oaks and bushes will be preserved for their underground water reserves.
The farm, classified as protected agricultural land, will also offer artisanal products for direct sale. Isabelle Pertois plans to hire six part-time employees, with an inclusive approach aligned with social and solidarity economy (ESS) principles. The farm will be open for visits, particularly for schoolchildren, to facilitate knowledge transfer.
The Coste Chaude site has undergone several phases: a real estate project by Vinci in 2019, the decision to restore its agricultural purpose in 2020, an initial installation attempt in 2023, and its classification as agricultural land and purchase by the City in 2025. The City received €73,700 in state funding for works. In 2026, Isabelle Pertois's offer was selected from five applications. The rural lease, signed for 9 years, was authorized by the municipal council on September 22nd.
