Founded in 2020, Samytylou Créa specializes in the manufacture of fabric accessories. Initially created to make masks during the Covid crisis, the activity has expanded to include birth trousseaus and hygiene products such as washable wipes, notably using bamboo viscose for its hygienic and resistant properties. Other creations favor plain Oeko-Tex certified cotton or untreated organic cotton. The company also transforms recycled jeans into bags and makes clothing on demand.
Samytylou Créa's products can be found at local fairs, the market in La Brigue, the boutique du Prieuré in Saint-Dalmas de Tende, and the shop « Les produits de Kat » in Breil-sur-Roya. It was Katia Piquet from « Les produits de Kat » who encouraged Karine Agard, the head of Samytylou Créa, to apply for the anti-waste challenge.
Although absolute zero waste is difficult in sewing, Samytylou Créa strives to reuse fabric scraps and used jeans as much as possible, particularly through patchwork creations. Raw materials come from France or the European Union. The company has also equipped its sewing machines with LED bulbs and more resistant chrome needles.
As part of the challenge, Samytylou Créa is developing a range of products from recycled jeans, including pouches, bags, and clothing, with the aim of offering them for sale online. This initiative is part of the effort to go further in fabric reuse.
Karine Agard advises companies looking to reduce waste to be patient and persistent, noting that even scraps can find a use.
The Alpimed+ECOTERR project, co-financed by the cross-border program Interreg France-Italy ALCOTRA 2021-2027, aims to improve water management, preserve ecosystems, and promote the circular economy in the Roya region. It involves local authorities, scientific institutions, and economic actors.
