A visit to the Mesce dam, located in Castérino, was organized during the summer by SMIAGE and EDF. This initiative was intended for elected officials from the Roya valley, the Communauté d’Agglomération de la Riviera française, and SMIAGE on-call agents. The objective was to better understand the operation of the structure and its management procedures during flood periods.
As the Local Flood Alert Service (SDAL) for the Roya watershed, SMIAGE monitors the watercourse and informs communities of flood risks. Knowledge of the watershed's hydraulic structures is essential for this mission.
Discussions with EDF teams have allowed on-call agents to consolidate their understanding of the dam and integrate its operation into hydrological situation analysis. This year-round operational preparation enhances SMIAGE's coordination with municipalities and stakeholders who may be mobilized during flood events.
