During Sustainable Development Week, nurseries in the Pays des Paillons introduced children to nature, seasonal flavors, and eco-responsible actions through various workshops.

During Sustainable Development Week, nurseries in the Pays des Paillons offered children activities focused on discovering nature, seasonal flavors, and actions to protect the planet.
At the La Petite Loco nursery in L'Escarène, the courtyard transformed into a morning exploration zone. Children discovered the scents of thyme, roses, mint, and basil through sensory games, lavender-scented salt dough creations, and dried flower art. Learning to sort plastic waste was taught by Yoran, a recycling ambassador, and 'Pinpin the dog'. A cooking workshop with 'Chef' Victor was also organized. The team plans to integrate these good practices into daily routines, including sorting after every meal and snack, and incorporating cooking workshops into educational projects.
The Lu Nistou de la Puncha nursery in Blausasc saw the creation of beautiful sustainable development-themed artworks. Cardboard trees adorned with natural elements and an original painting made with bubble wrap rolled around toilet paper rolls allowed children to connect with nature while having fun with recycled materials.
At the L'Olivier nursery in Contes, children first explored olives and aromatic herbs. They then visited the market in Contes to meet producers, before participating in culinary workshops featuring oranges, pears, chestnuts, marrons, and zucchinis. These sensory experiences sparked their curiosity and taste for new flavors, while introducing them to the concepts of a varied, seasonal, and environmentally friendly diet.
The micro-nursery Li Estèlas in Coaraze prepared homemade snacks using jams from local producers in Contes and La Trinité. They also created a poster highlighting seasonal fruits and vegetables, encouraging the children to become true 'little locavores'.
Audrey Légeret, Vice-President in charge of Early Childhood, congratulated the teams for their creativity and commitment. Martine Brun, Vice-President delegated to the community policy for sustainable development of the Pays des Paillons, also thanked the teams, children, and parents for their involvement, stating, 'These small gestures today prepare the eco-citizens of tomorrow.'
