Hawaï beach, far from disappearing as some have suggested, will be maintained. The works involve demolishing three groynes to the west and replacing them with rock armor at the foot of the road's retaining wall. The remaining eastern groyne, closest to the port entrance, will be reinforced to preserve Hawaï beach, following adaptations made after public consultation.
Regarding the Sablettes construction site, noise pollution is expected, particularly during pile driving for the new central pontoon. This specific operation, scheduled between mid-November and mid-December, is expected to last only a few hours per day and not necessarily every day, depending on the project's progress.
The rocks stored at the Rondelli stadium will not all be used for the Hawaï sector. They will primarily serve to create the temporary construction track needed for the new Sablettes pontoon.
The sailing school, meanwhile, has been relocated to the Quai de l'Impératrice-Eugénie during the Sablettes works phase to ensure continuity of activities. It will integrate the new pontoon with a redesigned layout once the project is completed.
This second phase of the coastal protection program aims to protect infrastructure, improve water and sediment circulation between the two coves of Sablettes beach, while preserving recreational uses. The construction will be halted in case of bad weather and during the year-end holiday season.
