The Métropole is expanding its Reuse Spaces initiative with the opening of two new sites in the Rousset and Pennes-Mirabeau recycling centers on November 2, 2026, bringing the total to 27.

The Métropole has established Reuse Spaces in nearly half of its recycling centers. As of September 1, 2026, 25 reuse spaces, including a donation center, had been deployed across the territory's 60 recycling centers. Now, with the opening of new sites in Rousset and Pennes-Mirabeau on November 2, 2026, this number reaches 27.
These spaces allow users to drop off items in good condition or repairable. A partner association collects these items, repairs and refurbishes them, before offering them for sale at low prices in its Ressourcerie (second-hand shop), giving them a second life.
Accepted items include small furniture, tableware, decorative objects, trinkets, small appliances, sports, gardening, and DIY items, as well as toys and cultural items in good condition. Excluded are damaged items, hazardous products, hygiene-related items (mattresses, pillows, etc.), and safety-critical items (motorcycle helmets, baby car seats, etc.).
Donating an item to a Reuse Space contributes to environmental preservation by reducing waste and the consumption of new objects, thereby limiting the use of natural resources and ecological footprint. It also supports the local economy by assisting associations that create jobs and promote community engagement.
The partner Ressourceries offer a wide selection of second-hand items at affordable prices, including clothing, decor, tableware, furniture, and toys. Buying second-hand allows for savings, the discovery of unique items, combating overconsumption, and supporting the social and solidarity economy. Self-repair and creative workshops are also available.
