The commune of Saint-Jeannet issued a warning on Tuesday, October 27th, regarding fraudulent SMS messages that misuse its name for commercial purposes, particularly concerning solar panel installation offers.

A resident reported receiving an SMS on October 5th, referencing Saint-Jeannet and inviting property owners to reply 'YES' to be contacted about a solar energy commercial offer. The message read: 'Commune de SAINT JEANNET Property owner, turn your roof into a revenue source! Benefit from solar aid. To learn more, reply YES'.
Following this reply, the individual was contacted by phone by a company identifying itself as Valeos. The town emphasizes that it did not initiate this solicitation and has not authorized any company to do so. The use of the commune's name could mislead recipients into believing the offer has official backing.
The town advises residents to avoid responding to unsolicited commercial SMS from unverified sources, refrain from sharing personal or banking details after unverified solicitations, and exercise caution when contacted by phone. It is recommended not to engage in commercial dealings without verifying the caller's identity and offer terms.
Suspicious SMS messages can be reported to the national service 33700. The commune also encourages residents to share this information to prevent confusion and thanks those who have already reported such practices.
