Pianist, composer, and improviser Jean-François Zygel, a unique figure in French musical creation, will lead an improvisation workshop in Aix-en-Provence. Renowned for revitalizing piano artistry through improvisation and conceptualizing concerts as true spectacles, Zygel makes each performance a unique, unexpected, and unpredictable event.
His projects involve sharing the stage with diverse artists, with his primary venues this season including the Seine Musicale, the Philharmonie du Luxembourg, the Grand Théâtre de Provence, the Opéra de Tours, and the Orchestre national du Capitole de Toulouse. Jean-François Zygel is also appreciated by the general public for his work introducing classical music on radio and television, and is internationally recognized for his expertise in accompanying silent films.
Trained at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris, where he earned ten First Prizes, he now teaches his art of improvisation in the class he founded in 2002. His albums are released by Naïve and Sony.
