Juliette et Roméo is an innovative artistic project that fuses theater, music, and dance. This creation aims to make these different languages dialogue to convey the narrative, emotions, and meaning of the work.
Set during the Carnival period, the performance combines works by Prokofiev, Tchaikovsky, and mambo rhythms by Bernstein. The goal is to bridge festivity, lyricism, and tragedy.
Beyond the iconic love story, the project addresses profound themes such as hate, transmission, reconciliation, and peace. It also offers a feminist reading of Juliette, depicted as a young woman claiming her freedom of choice.
Students, as performers and creators, are at the heart of this artistic, educational, and civic adventure, based on cooperation, commitment, and a sensitive, contemporary appropriation of the work.
The staging is by Catherine LIVERATO, the text is by Enguerrand GUEPY, and the orchestral direction is entrusted to Guillaume RABIER. Choreography is by Jennifer BLASEK and Christine LYON MOAL, while fight direction is by Nicolas WAGNER.
Performers include students in cycle 3 and specialized theater, accompanied by a symphony orchestra. The dance component features students in cycle 3 specialized in classical and contemporary dance.
