A conference will be held on Wednesday, October 21st, from 3 PM to 4:15 PM, at the Auditorium de la Bastide du Jas de Bouffan, exploring the close ties between pictorial abstraction and the art of sounds in the work of Wassily Kandinsky.
From a young age, initiated simultaneously in music, drawing, and painting, Kandinsky consistently advocated for the convergence of all arts. In his writings, particularly in "Point Ligne Surface," he used terms such as "intonation of the line," "double sound in a form," "initial tonality," "resonances," and "sonorities," thereby justifying abstraction through the art of sounds. He even theorized the question of time in painting, definitively aligning it with music.
