The Barriol neighborhood in Arles is undergoing transformation through a citizen consultation process. Six participatory workshops have enabled residents to envision the future development of public spaces, including Place Maurice Thorez, Place des Troubadours, and the neighborhood entrance.
The final meeting, held on Monday, November 2, 2026, focused on the neighborhood entrance, a strategic location for Barriol's image and functionality. Residents, local stakeholders, and young people were invited to share their vision and imagine future uses for this space.
Guided by the consulting firm Base, SPL Agate, and the technical teams from ACCM and the City of Arles, participants worked in small groups, using plans and models to collectively consider possible developments.
This series of six workshops has gathered numerous proposals and identified points of convergence, highlighting the importance of citizen participation in such a large-scale project. Each contribution will inform ongoing discussions to create a more pleasant and functional neighborhood.
