Enji Ibrahim Gadallah, a teaching and research assistant in Political Science at the Faculty of Economic and Political Sciences of the University of Alexandria (Egypt), is being hosted at MESOPOLHIS from October 1, 2026, to March 31, 2027. This stay is part of a doctoral research project at Sciences Po Aix, co-financed by the French Embassy in Egypt (Campus France) and the Egyptian Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research.
Her research project, titled 'The geopolitical dimensions of the American military presence worldwide: Study of the political motivations for the deployment of American military bases abroad,' analyzes the global network of US military bases since 1945. The project examines the geopolitical dimensions and political motivations behind the continuity and transformation of this system, comparing Europe, Asia-Pacific, and the Middle East.
The objective is to articulate strategic geography, power relations, alliance policies, the sovereignty of host states, and regional security realignments. The stay at MESOPOLHIS will allow for an enrichment of this framework through an interdisciplinary, transnational, and actor-attentive approach.
Her work is linked to the research axis 'Contemporary Violence, Crises, and Conflictualities' at MESOPOLHIS. Her referent within the laboratory is Aude Signoles.
