The month of October 2026 promises to be culturally dense in the Aix-Marseille-Provence Metropolis, with a diverse program extending throughout the territory. From conferences to creative workshops, including exhibitions and concerts, residents are invited to discover the cultural richness of their region.
In Aubagne, the Agora Congress Center will host several conferences by renowned professors. On October 1st, Yves STALLONI, professor of literature, will lead a conference on « Franz Kafka ». On October 5th, Jean-Charles JAUFFRET, professor emeritus of history, will discuss « Massalia, from its founding (-600 BC) to Caesar's siege (-49 BC) ». On October 8th, archaeologist and historian Dominique BERTHOUT will present « Carcassonne: the city, its castle, and the fortified town ». Finally, on October 12th, Agnès GROS will explore « Interreligious Journey in Modern Egypt », and on October 15th, Marie-Blanche CORDOU will discuss « Japanese Literature ».
The metropolis's libraries will also be major hubs of activity. In Cornillon-Confoux, events for young children and reading clubs are scheduled, as well as creative workshops like « Little Curious Ones Meet: Special Halloween Workshop » on October 17th. In Entressen, the « Graines de culture » (Culture Seeds) concept invites cuttings exchange until October 17th, while manga and robotics programming workshops are offered.
Fos-sur-Mer will feature the exhibition « Draw Me Ecology » as part of the Science Festival, along with guided walks on the theme « Discovering the Salt Marshes » on October 3rd. Reading clubs and culinary workshops are also on the agenda. In Grans, the library will host events for curious children and book presentations.
Istres will highlight the Conservatory with concerts by professors and students from various classes (clarinet, cello, violin) throughout the month. The exhibition « Superheroes of the Plate » and workshops on balanced eating are also planned. In Miramas, the Science Festival will be celebrated with workshops on renewable energies, cooking, and discovering wild plants. The exhibition « INFINITO » will showcase contemporary works.
Pertuis will offer a photographic exhibition « Pareidolia » by Bernard Gaillandre, as well as a Tolkien weekend with concerts and elven calligraphy workshops. The Science Festival will also be present with workshops on bubbles and mathematical sculpture. Shows and Fablab workshops complete the offerings.
Port-Saint-Louis-du-Rhône will host the « Sea Side, River Side » day with outdoor performances, and thematic workshops on Halloween and science. The town's libraries will also offer cuttings exchange as part of « Graines de culture ».
Finally, the metropolis's cultural venues will be buzzing with activity. Théâtre La Colonne will celebrate its 40th anniversary with film screenings, concerts, and festive events. The company Vertical Détour will present an offbeat conference « Wow! Atlas of the Anthropocene » in Grans on October 18th.
