The Aix-Marseille-Provence Métropole supports residents in reducing their waste and developing composting. In La Fare-les-Oliviers, two new collective composting sites will be set up in early November for families without space for a home composter or vermicomposter. Eco-ambassadors will be present on Saturday, November 7th to introduce this practice and provide more information on waste sorting.
Two new collective composting sites will soon be developed: next to the Post Office and in the parking lot of the Denise Sicard municipal library. Composting transforms organic waste into 100% natural fertilizer, a concrete action to limit waste volume and return nutrients to nature.
To support the implementation of these facilities, the Métropole is organizing an awareness event on composting and waste sorting on Saturday, November 7th, 2026, from 8:30 AM to 1:00 PM, at Place Clément Calvin (fountain square). Eco-ambassadors will be available to answer questions, explain how collective composters work, and share practical tips for daily waste sorting.
A distribution of bio-buckets is also planned to assist with collecting food waste before depositing it in the composters. Whether you are already a composting enthusiast or simply curious, feel free to come and exchange with the eco-ambassadors. You can already download the collective composting guide.
This event will also cover waste sorting more generally, helping to understand the guidelines and adopt good practices. The Métropole also offers individual composting solutions for gardens and vermicomposting for apartments, available on its website or through the free Adoptez le Reflexe app.
