To address issues of illegal parking and risks to students, the municipality of Lambesc has introduced a new drop-off zone. This initiative aims to secure the college surroundings and facilitate student drop-offs and pick-ups in a safer environment.
Previously, vehicles often stopped on the road, reducing visibility and forcing students to disembark into traffic lanes, sometimes behind parked cars. These concerns had been raised by parents during recent council meetings.
The system is straightforward: parents are encouraged to use Notre-Dame-de-la-Rose street to drop off their children directly on the sidewalk. This facility can also be used for student pick-ups, such as during school trips. There is no maximum parking duration, but users are asked to limit their stop time to what is strictly necessary to ensure vehicle rotation and smooth traffic.
The drop-off zone became operational on Tuesday, October 14. A week-long awareness campaign will be conducted after the All Saints' Day holidays.
The primary objectives are to minimize accident risks, ensure safe student boarding and alighting, and improve traffic flow on the street.
The cost of the works amounts to €1,705 including tax.
