The project for the future Henri Galeron Cultural Center, named in honor of painter and illustrator Henri Galeron, is advancing significantly. Following decisions by the Cultural Pole Management Board, the municipal library will move to allow work to begin on its current site. It will temporarily be housed within the Maison des Associations to ensure continued service for users during construction.
This centerpiece of the « Cœur de Village » operation will include a media library, the « Vie associative » service, a modular space for workshops and conferences, a « youth space », and an outdoor reading patio. The project also involves redesigning adjacent outdoor areas, including landscaping, pétanque courts, and road improvements.
Designed by the firm Marseille Architecture Partenaires (MAP / Renaud Tarrazi), the project has a total cost of €1,200,000 HT. Building funding is secured at 80% by the State (DRAC) and the Departmental Council of Bouches-du-Rhône, while funding for the VRD and external amenities is pending notification.
To facilitate the transfer of books, furniture, and IT equipment, the library will be closed to the public from Monday, October 12 to Saturday, October 17, 2026. It will reopen in its temporary location, Room 1 of the Maison des Associations, on Wednesday, October 21 at 8:30 AM. Opening hours (Wednesday and Friday 8:30 AM-12 PM and 2 PM-6 PM, Saturday 9 AM-12 PM) and the phone number 04 90 49 14 62 remain unchanged.
Florence Plan, head of the Vie associative Service, will move into an office near the main entrance starting October 13th. It is recommended to contact her at 06 77 53 81 58 before visiting. The tender process for selecting construction companies is complete. The precise work schedule will be communicated to the public after technical discussions with the chosen firms.
