In line with its commitments and to meet the demand expressed by many Saint-Rémy residents, the municipality will retrace a central dividing line on the Cours. The work will take place next week, from October 5 to 9, 2026, at night to minimize inconvenience to users.
The marking will be carried out on Boulevards Marceau, Gambetta, Mirabeau, and Victor-Hugo. Adapted to the width of each section, it will take into account space constraints related to bus and heavy vehicle traffic, parking, and delivery zones.
These two distinct lanes, thus materialized on the Cours, should help to streamline traffic. The boulevards, arranged as one-way streets over approximately 1 km, handle up to 9,700 vehicles per day with a maximum authorized speed of 30 km/h.
Historically, the boulevards were two-way until 1977, then organized into two lanes in the same direction until 2012, separated by a broken white line that has since gradually faded. Faced with increased traffic and delivery areas, the central line had not been retraced to maintain more flexible maneuvering space when traffic conditions or delivery operations required it.
With the retracing of the central line, the new municipality wishes to promote smoother traffic flow, particularly during peak hours.
