The municipality of Saint-Rémy-de-Provence has been officially recognized as a natural disaster area following the floods and mudslides that occurred on October 19 and 20, 2026.

This recognition was published in the Official Journal of the French Republic on October 29, 2026, by an inter-ministerial decree dated October 27, 2026.
Residents who have suffered damages related to this weather event are urged to report their claim to their insurance company if they have not already done so. It is advisable to contact your insurer to understand the coverage procedures and necessary documentation. It is important to keep proof of damage, such as photographs, invoices, and repair estimates.
The declaration period under the natural disaster scheme is 30 days from the publication of the decree in the Official Journal. Therefore, it is recommended to contact your insurer without delay.
The recognition of the natural disaster status allows for the mobilization of the guarantee provided by the relevant insurance contracts, subject to applicable legal and contractual conditions. This does not mean that all damages will be automatically compensated.
