The event, held under the auspices of the departmental union, saw the participation of adults and young firefighters, some arriving in teams from their barracks. Beyond the competition, the main objective was to share a sporting and warm moment, marked by strong camaraderie and good spirits.
Laurent Muscarnera, president of the Vitrolles firefighters' association, expressed his satisfaction: "Very good organization, very happy competitors, great weather. The course was well-liked, and the organization too... We only received positive feedback."
An original start from the Vitrolles Stadium marked this edition. Competitors cycled through the former sports complex before reaching the starting arch, a nod to the town's heritage, according to Lionel Pascale, a firefighter in Vitrolles and event coordinator.
The initiative also aimed to promote sport among firefighters and maintain encounters between different associations. Several podiums were established, rewarding the performances of men, women, and various categories. All participants also received gifts, including t-shirts, water bottles, and neck gaiters.
With very positive feedback from the runners and praised organization, the Pompiers13 association of Vitrolles draws a highly satisfactory conclusion from this day. This success underscores that, on bikes as in barracks, sport remains a great opportunity to meet and share.
