The Pays des Écrins Community of Communes has successfully completed the annual sludge dewatering operation in its wastewater treatment plants, a key step to optimize wastewater treatment and valorize residues.

As every autumn, the sludge dewatering operation has been carried out in the wastewater treatment plants of the Pays des Écrins Community of Communes. This procedure involves completely emptying the decantation tanks and the settled sludge.
The effluents are then loaded into a skip and transported to the L'Argentière-La Bessée wastewater treatment plant site. There, a mobile centrifuge pumps the material. The liquid portion is reinjected into the plant's circuit for re-treatment, while the solid portion, the dewatered sludge, is sent to a composting center.
This autumn campaign involved the plants in La Roche-de-Rame, Les Vigneaux, and L'Argentière-La Bessée. The campaign will continue in the spring for the community's other facilities, with the exception of the Vallouise plant, which has its own fixed centrifuge.
Thanks to this process, the territory optimizes its wastewater treatment while valorizing solid residues in a circular economy approach. These staggered operations ensure the efficient and sustainable functioning of all our sanitation infrastructures.
