The municipality of Ampus has launched a survey to document damage caused by drought and soil rehydration in 2026. Affected residents are asked to report damages by November 15th.

The municipality of Ampus is seeking to document damages potentially linked to drought and soil rehydration phenomena that occurred within its territory during the year 2026. This survey will enable the commune to compile a request for natural disaster status recognition for land movements related to drought and soil rehydration, which will then be forwarded to state services.
Residents of Ampus affected by this phenomenon can send a letter to the Town Hall describing the damages suffered and the affected structures. To facilitate the processing of the file, it is recommended to provide the following information: your full name, complete address, phone number and email address, the date and nature of the incident, a description of the observed damages, and photographs documenting the damage.
Your correspondence can be submitted until November 15, 2026: at the reception of the Town Hall, by mail to: Mairie d’Ampus – Place de la Mairie – 83111 AMPUS, or by email to: ampus@mairie-ampus.fr.
It is specified that victims must declare their damages to their insurer in accordance with their insurance contract. The survey conducted by the municipality does not guarantee recognition of natural disaster status or compensation for the damages observed. The decision rests with the State, following the current regulatory procedure. If the conditions are met, this recognition may be subject to an inter-ministerial decree.
