The municipality of Évenos has inaugurated a new eco-industry hub, named Jean-Mathieu Michel, dedicated to the recovery of construction and public works waste, in the presence of numerous local and institutional figures.

This symbolic event was attended by the Mayor and the municipal team, along with her deputies, municipal councilors, and staff members whose daily commitment was acknowledged. Many institutional personalities and partners were also present to underscore this strong commitment to the circular economy.
Distinguished guests included Mr. Robert Beneventi, Mayor of Ollioules and Departmental Councilor of Var; Ms. Laetitia Quilici, 2nd Vice-President of the Departmental Council of Var; Mr. René Castell, Mayor of Le Castellet and Vice-President of CASSB; Mr. Michel Ollagnier, Technical Director of SITTOMAT; Mr. Christophe Belkacemi (Departmental Directorate of Infrastructure and Mobility); Captain Fayçal Chidiac, Commander of the Gendarmerie of La Valette-du-Var, as well as representatives from Var Matériaux and the Eurovia group, local residents, and stakeholders.
The site is named in homage to the late Jean-Mathieu Michel, former mayor of Signes, who tragically died defending his territory against illegal dumping. This facility embodies the victory of environmental responsibility championed with conviction by the Mayor.
Through an exemplary partnership between the municipality, CASSB, state services, and Var Matériaux, this eco-industry hub will enable the sorting and recovery of 90% of BTP waste. It also ensures the safety of local residents and will offer significant benefits for the living environment, including trails, VTT tracks, a green theater, and sustained support for local associative life.
