The 6th edition of the national « The Largest Museum in France » operation has launched, inviting citizens to identify endangered local artworks for restoration.

From September 17, 2026, to January 31, 2027, every resident of the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur region is invited to participate in the « Le Plus Grand Musée de France » campaign. This national initiative, supported by La Sauvegarde de l’Art Français and Allianz France, aims to preserve local heritage by encouraging the search and identification of endangered works in each commune.
The goal is to discover fragile treasures, whether they are paintings, sculptures, or objects of memory. Participants are encouraged to nominate a public work in need of restoration. In March, a vote will determine which ones will receive funding for their repair.
Thanks to the support of Allianz France, each winning artwork, selected from the 16 regions of metropolitan and overseas France, will receive a sponsorship of 8,000 euros for its restoration. This program provides concrete support to mayors, associations, and residents committed to preserving local history.
During the previous, 5th edition, the PACA region recorded a record number of nearly 6,000 votes, demonstrating a growing local commitment to safeguarding neighborhood heritage.
