The Association of Mayors of France (AMF) is calling for a rally in front of town halls this Monday, October 19, to strongly condemn acts of vandalism and aggression against public institutions and businesses.

In response to recent fires at town halls and public buildings, as well as looting of shops, the Association of Mayors of France (AMF) has strongly condemned these assaults and vandalism, considering them to have crossed an unacceptable threshold and to be attacks on public liberties. These acts followed demonstrations that, according to the AMF, had respected public order.
The organization expresses its solidarity with the mayors, their teams, as well as the residents and shopkeepers of the affected municipalities, citing notably Limoges, Marseille, Lille, Bordeaux, Calais, and Grenoble. The AMF also expressed its gratitude to law enforcement and emergency services for their management of these events.
Consequently, the AMF is calling on mayors and municipal councils to gather, along with all willing vital forces, this Monday, October 19, starting at noon, or later in the day. These attacks on democratic institutions are considered a major risk to the Nation.
The priority is now the restoration of order so that public liberties can be fully respected.
