Following the CAF of Var, it is now the turn of the Union of Social Security and Family Allowances Collection (URSSAF) of Var to leave the La Rode district. Established in 1977 in this post-war Toulon neighborhood, the social organization moved in late June to a brand-new building in downtown Toulon, close to Place de la Liberté, the train station, and parking facilities. This strategic location aims to bring the organization closer to transportation and users.
« This collective project is at the heart of URSSAF's values and closest to users, hence this downtown positioning with surrounding parking, » stated Franck Barbe, regional director of URSSAF PACA. The official inauguration, held this Wednesday, October 7th at 12 PM, formalizes a long-maturing transition. « Certainly, your teams have occupied the premises for several months now, but this ceremony allows us to mark together an important step in your history, » emphasized Josée Massi, mayor of Toulon.
This new 3,000 m² real estate complex now houses approximately 200 employees. Designed to meet modern ergonomic and comfort standards after a demanding construction process, the building offers more functional spaces adapted to both the daily tasks of the staff and the physical reception of the public.
The plot on Rue Saunier, which once housed the first teams of the Toulon Provence Méditerranée metropolitan area, retains its public service vocation. This site is integrated into a sector undergoing transformation, surrounded by the police station, the Hôtel des Arts TPM, and the Cercle Naval, and will soon host the School of Advanced Industries. The daily presence of agents and the flow of users thus reinforce the economic and social dynamism of the city center.
This relocation also opens a new chapter for the La Rode district. The former premises vacated by URSSAF will be converted into student housing. « The site you have left is intended to accommodate student housing. This is a positive transformation for this neighborhood and a further illustration of the ambition we hold for Toulon: that of an increasingly attractive university and student city, » indicated Josée Massi. This project aligns with the municipality's strategy to strengthen Toulon's status as a university city.
During the official ceremony, attendees included Olivier Tarrazi, president of the URSSAF board of directors, Sophie Patout, delegated director of the National URSSAF Fund, Virginie Hornus-Pin, representative of the PACA region, and Lucien Giudicelli, secretary-general of the prefecture of Var.
