The City of Toulon has issued a series of decrees prohibiting the circulation of motorized personal transport devices (EDPMs), such as electric scooters, in pedestrian zones and on the port, effective October 26th.

Gyropods, hoverboards, and electric scooters, capable of speeds up to 25 km/h, are now banned in Toulon's pedestrian areas, including the hypercentre, Cours Lafayette, and the Martin-Bidouré and Monseigneur Deydier squares. Non-compliance will result in a 150 euro fine. Mayor Josée Massi also reiterated that electric scooters are forbidden for individuals under 14 years of age, as per the law.
In other parts of the city, EDPMs must use cycle paths and lanes where available. Otherwise, scooters are permitted on roads with a speed limit of 50 km/h. Circulation is also prohibited on the port, where the municipal police confiscated over 150 devices during the summer.
For safety and visibility reasons, the use of a helmet, gloves, and a reflective vest is requested. Failure to wear these protective items will also incur a 150 euro fine. Control operations will be conducted soon, with systematic ticketing.
