Six years after the last visit, a delegation from Camaret-sur-Aigues, led by Mayor Philippe de Beauregard, will travel to Lebanon from October 7th to 14th. This mission is part of the twinning agreement between the French commune and the Lebanese village of Ras Baalbeck, established in 2018.
Isabelle Latard, municipal councilor and president of the association Le Cèdre et l'Olivier, Michèle Aubert, municipal councilor and member of the association's board, along with Kévin Banck, the city's communication manager, will accompany the mayor. The twinning aims to foster lasting ties of friendship, solidarity, and cooperation with the Lebanese people.
Ras Baalbeck, a Christian village located in the Bekaa plain, maintains privileged relations with Camaret-sur-Aigues, largely thanks to the commitment of the association Le Cèdre et l'Olivier. The twinning convention encourages regular exchanges and the development of concrete projects in cultural, social, sporting, artisanal, and agricultural fields.
For several years, the municipality and the association Le Cèdre et l'Olivier have been mobilizing to assist the population of Ras Baalbeck, severely affected by the successive crises in Lebanon. This solidarity is demonstrated through charity events, the delivery of computer equipment for a school, and essential medicines. Recently, the association funded the purchase of an electric generator, improving cultivation conditions for many families.
The delegation will meet with the new municipality of Ras Baalbeck to discuss local needs and explore the continuation of joint actions. Regular updates from the visit will be shared on the Facebook page of the City of Camaret-sur-Aigues.
