The Town of Camaret-sur-Aigues has been targeted by an "Ugly France" award from the association "Paysages de France". The municipality denounces a process deemed unserious, based on a single photo and ignoring the commune's assets.

The association "Paysages de France", chaired by a contributor to Médiapart, has awarded an "Ugly France" prize to the Town of Camaret-sur-Aigues. The municipality, through Philippe de Beauregard, calls this "pseudo-award" an unserious initiative, based on a single photo of a site belonging to the Department of Vaucluse.
According to the town hall, this distinction deliberately ignores the aesthetic qualities of the new Place des Félibres and the new Carrefour des Amandiers, as well as the renaturation of the kindergarten courtyards at La Souleïado. It also overlooks the achievement of the 3rd flower in the "Villes et Villages Fleuris" (Flowered Towns and Villages) label and the village's good position in the "Towns and villages where life is good" ranking.
Rather than criticizing villages and their businesses, the municipality suggests it would have been more pertinent to look towards certain Parisian suburbs. The town hall invites everyone to choose what they prefer to observe: "a few signs... or everything that makes our village live and makes it beautiful."
