The Luberon takes a significant step in its tourism development, being selected among the 30 national laureates of the « Destination France à vélo » initiative, a distinction that ensures tailored support to boost its cycling tourism offerings.

On October 1st, the Luberon was officially recognized as one of the 30 winning destinations in the national Call for Expressions of Interest (AMI) « Destination France à vélo ». Out of 88 applications, this Provençal territory stood out, marking a significant milestone in its strategy to promote cycling tourism.
This label is more than just recognition; it includes tailored support from the State and Atout France for two years. Specifically, this accreditation aims to structure the local cycling tourism offer. The entire ecosystem, including accommodations, bike rental services, and tourist offices, is organizing to provide clearly marked routes, personalized advice, and dedicated services such as luggage transfer and secure bike storage.
Whether for daily commutes, sporting outings, or weekend getaways, the Luberon adapts to all paces and levels. Among the flagship routes are the « Autour du Luberon » loop, offering 240 km on quiet, marked secondary roads, the « Véloroute du Calavon », a secure greenway ideal for families, and the network provides direct connections to major regional cycle routes and TER train stations.
The area also boasts an exceptional FFC VTT (Mountain Biking) Area with 63 marked routes covering over 1,500 km, and two « Grandes Traversées » for long-distance mountain biking. New Gravel routes are also being developed, combining country roads and dirt paths.
The association Vélo Loisir Provence plays a key role in promoting everyday cycling, facilitating commutes to work or errands. The co-working space La Petite Vitesse in Saignon actively supports this transition towards active mobility.
To ensure a seamless experience, 95 establishments are « Accueil Vélo » (Bike Welcome) certified, offering suitable accommodations, tourist sites, and committed tourist offices providing warm welcomes and appropriate facilities. Additionally, 18 bike rental and repair shops, along with specialized travel agencies and transporters, complete the service offerings.
This national selection celebrates 30 years of collective commitment. The objective by 2026 is to make the Luberon a model destination for low-carbon tourism, combining cycling enjoyment with the preservation of the local environment and quality of life.
