This Tuesday, October 20, the Vaucluse department is placed on a level ORANGE meteorological alert for rain-flooding, and on a yellow alert for floods, according to Météo France.

A very active Mediterranean episode of rain and storms, coming from the Gard region, is setting in and causing locally significant rainfall accumulations in a short time, as well as potentially strong stormy phenomena. Some storm cells could cause water levels to rise, particularly in the Aygues, Ouvèze, and Calavon-coulon rivers, which are placed on yellow alert.
Météo France calls for the utmost vigilance and recommends gathering information before undertaking any travel or outdoor activity. It is advised never to enter, on foot or by car, a submerged road or one near a watercourse. A vehicle, even a 4x4, can be swept away in 30 centimeters of water. It is also recommended to stay informed, follow safety instructions, be mindful of neighbors, and take appropriate precautions, such as protecting property from water and avoiding basements during the rain episode.
Vigilance extends to areas near watercourses and normally flood-prone zones. It is imperative to comply with road signs and not to enter an immersed road, even partially.
To stay informed about the evolving meteorological situation, it is advised to consult Météo France's vigilance website (http://vigilance.meteofrance.com) or listen to local media, such as Ici Vaucluse 100.4 FM.
