The objective is to revive a historic object from the pool, preserve its identity for future generations of users, and offer residents an accessible artwork in a frequently visited public space. This project accompanies the equipment's rebirth with a strong artistic gesture, resonating with its history.
The mandatory raw material for the artwork consists of the old metal locker baskets from the Altitude 500 swimming pool. Artists must design a project that integrates all or part of these baskets through assembly, transformation, or repurposing, respecting the reuse spirit of this call for projects. The number and technical characteristics of the baskets will be communicated to candidates, who can verify them during an on-site visit.
The artwork will be installed within the new Altitude 500 facility. The precise location will be determined jointly with the renovation project's architect, Thierry Nabères (TNA Architectes), considering the site's architectural, technical, and safety constraints.
Candidates must submit a file including an artist's statement (1-2 pages) on their artistic approach and how it enhances the raw material (locker baskets), a preliminary project (max 3 A4 pages) describing the envisioned creation with a visual (sketch, illustration, image, or model with dimensions), a portfolio of recent works, a CV/biography, proof of SIRET or authorized administrative structure for invoicing, professional civil liability insurance certificate, and complete candidate contact details.
