The City of Aix-en-Provence has decided to implement a temporary curfew for minors under 18 not accompanied by a legal representative, in several sectors of the commune, from Saturday, October 24th at 9 PM to Sunday, October 25th at 6 AM.

Following the violence and damage observed during demonstrations on Saturday, October 17th, and in anticipation of new calls for gatherings and messages inciting looting and vandalism on social media, the municipality is taking preventive measures. This decree aims to ensure the safety of people and property, and to protect minors who might be exposed to violent situations, particularly students whose protests could be exploited.
The curfew will exclusively apply to the following sectors: Les Allées Provençales (between Place du Général-de-Gaulle and Avenue Armand-Lunel), the intra-muros city center (bounded by several boulevards and cours), the Auchan shopping center (210 avenue de Brédasque), and the Pioline commercial zone.
In case of non-compliance, security forces may escort minors back to their homes if circumstances of urgency or grave and imminent danger justify it. Their parents will be informed, and a formal warning will be issued. Violations of the decree are subject to penalties under the Penal Code. The City urges parents to be vigilant.
This exceptional measure, strictly limited to one night and identified perimeters, reaffirms the municipality's commitment to preserving public safety and tranquility, with a response proportionate to the identified risks.
