Organized by the Sites & Cités Remarquables association, the visit was part of the "Heritage and Sustainable Tourism" training week. The event, in partnership with the City of Aix-en-Provence, the French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs, and partner embassies, brought together experts in heritage, architecture, urban planning, culture, and tourism from Ecuador, Colombia, Mexico, Palestine, Lebanon, Croatia, Cameroon, and Romania.
At the Beaurecueil farm, the delegation learned about the missions of the Grand Site de France Concors Sainte-Victoire, highlighting its governance model based on a "shared territory." The tour continued in Puyloubier, where the mayor, Mr. Sébastien Leccia, led a guided visit of the village, showcasing built heritage rehabilitation projects and discussing the balance between tourism appeal and residents' quality of life.
In the afternoon, a walk along the Vignerons trail was guided by Gautier Descours, landscape operations manager for the Grand Site, covering sustainable landscape management and biodiversity preservation. Caroline Zagarrigo from the local winery presented the regional viticulture and grape varieties, followed by a tasting.
The day underscored the importance of international cooperation in sharing local practices that can inspire and be adapted to other contexts.
