After the torrential rains that hit Arles between October 19 and 21, and the floods that devastated the villages of Moulès, Mas-Thibert, Raphèle, and Salin-de-Giraud, as well as numerous farmhouses in Camargue, the time has now come for reconstruction and compensation.
The city of Arles has therefore created a reception center, staffed by municipal agents, to help victims file their damage claims with their insurance companies. This center will be operational at the Public Services Hub 1 (PSP1) from Monday, October 26, from 2 PM to 4 PM. Then, starting Tuesday, October 27, hours will be from 9 AM to 12:30 PM and 1:30 PM to 4 PM.
To facilitate remote procedures, the City has also set up a dedicated phone line: 04 90 49 35 49, and an email address: intemperies@ville-arles.fr. If an in-person meeting is necessary, an appointment can be made via these channels.
The agents from the City's urban planning department are not there to replace insurers, but they will assist people in determining where to go and what documents to look for. Furthermore, the CCAS (Communal Social Action Center) of the city of Arles is also mobilized to offer social support if needed.
The decree recognizing the natural disaster status, essential for the most significant damages to be compensated, is expected by the end of October. This was announced by Mathieu Lefèvre, the Minister Delegate for Ecological Transition, during his visit to Arles on Friday, October 23.
