On September 19 and 20, the open house days organized by Pompiers13 at the fire and rescue stations in Arles, Fuveau, and Trets were a great success, drawing several thousand visitors in a family-friendly and convivial atmosphere.
In Arles, nearly 1,000 people participated in this first edition. About sixty firefighters led demonstrations of fire maneuvers, vehicle extrications, and the canine team, as well as water safety workshops, sports courses, and hose handling.
The day in Fuveau, celebrating the center's 75th anniversary, attracted between 2,000 and 4,000 visitors. The program included road rescue maneuvers, an awareness workshop on smoke hazards, and a tour of the barracks. A course allowed visitors to try on firefighter gear. The Aubagne Music Band livened up the day with a parade of fire trucks.
In Trets, approximately 2,000 visitors attended the open house for the center's 80th anniversary. Demonstrations of vehicle extrication, car fires, and rescue equipment were offered. Visitors also discovered forest fire vehicles and interacted with the municipal police and gendarmerie.
These days also featured ceremonies of tribute and honor. In Arles, a tribute was paid to deceased firefighters. In Fuveau, several figures from the center were honored, including a flag bearer appointed honorary lieutenant and a comrade promoted to corporal.
The youngest visitors were not forgotten, with fun activities at each center allowing them to become 'little firefighters' and receive a diploma. Nearly a thousand diplomas were awarded in total.
These open house days strengthened the bonds between firefighters and the public, while showcasing their daily work, missions, and commitment.
