The Aix-Marseille Provence Métropole is implementing a new QR Code system to access Lecar bus schedules starting autumn 2026, replacing outdated paper timetables.

Each year, the Aix-Marseille Provence Métropole provides informational materials such as maps and timetables, typically available at La Métropole Mobilité welcome points and shops. However, these documents, especially timetables, quickly become obsolete. Their production incurs significant costs and leads to considerable waste, with 45% of these printed materials being discarded in less than 24 hours.
To address these issues, a digitalization of timetables for the Lecar network is being implemented for autumn 2026 using scannable QR Codes. This system allows users to consult schedules directly on their smartphones at any time, retaining the necessary information to facilitate their public transport journeys.
The user-friendly QR Codes ensure automatic data updates without requiring intervention from municipal services, leading to more reliable and sustainable communication. This digital approach will be complemented by 'real-time next arrival' QR Codes, to be progressively installed at bus stops across all Métropole municipalities, with completion planned by 2027.
