On October 13, 2026, the Departmental Fire and Rescue Service of Bouches-du-Rhône (SDIS 13) took part in the 'Water & Energy Solutions' exchange day, held in Aix-en-Provence. Organized by the CCIAMP, this meeting aimed to promote sustainable solutions and allow local businesses to better understand the needs and public procurement procedures of SDIS 13.
The event brought together companies, buyers, and specialists around three key themes: water management, business adaptation to environmental challenges, and support and financing mechanisms. The participation of Pompiers13 had a dual objective: to gather information from companies for internal stakeholders and to explain to businesses how to respond to SDIS 13's public tenders. This was explained by Ariane Melis, head of the Public Procurement service.
With a significant real estate portfolio comprising 61 fire and rescue centers, administrative buildings, and training facilities, SDIS 13 faces important challenges regarding water and energy consumption. The meeting allowed these needs to be matched with solutions offered by local companies, thus contributing to better integration of environmental issues into the establishment's projects.
Ariane Melis also emphasized that energy choices must remain compatible with the specific missions of firefighters. Although the electrification of certain service vehicles is underway, intervention vehicles must meet specific constraints of power, autonomy, and operational availability.
Marc Adragna, head of Citizen Activities service and station chief in Lamanon, present alongside Ariane Melis, provided his expertise on technical aspects related to the firefighters' missions, particularly concerning water supply for firefighting. He recalled that when local conditions permit, firefighters can use non-potable water resources (ponds, rivers, canals) to preserve drinking water networks, depending on their availability and location.
