The City of Pélissanne has adopted new regulations for motorized personal mobility devices (EDPMs), including electric scooters, to improve the safety of all public space users.

Municipal decree n° 572/2026, dated September 29, 2026, outlines the rules for EDPMs circulating or parked on public and private roads open to traffic within Pélissanne. This applies to electric scooters, gyropods, electric unicycles, and hoverboards.
EDPM riders must be at least 14 years old, and use is strictly individual. The maximum authorized speed is 25 km/h for devices on public roads. Wearing an attached protective helmet is mandatory, along with reflective clothing or equipment for visibility at night or in poor conditions.
Riders must use bike lanes or paths where available. Otherwise, they may use roadways, respecting the 30 km/h speed limit within the urban area, unless more restrictive limits apply. Sidewalks, pedestrian crossings, and pedestrian-only areas are strictly prohibited for EDPMs, except when accessing adjacent properties by dismounting and walking the device.
To ensure attentive riding, holding a phone or any sound-emitting device is prohibited while riding, as is wearing earphones. Users must have specific civil liability insurance covering third-party damages, with proof available upon request.
Parking of EDPMs must not obstruct pedestrian traffic or access to buildings, shops, public facilities, or public transport. Parking is forbidden in spaces reserved for people with reduced mobility, in front of emergency exits, or on pedestrian crossings. Abandoned or obstructing devices may be subject to enforcement measures.
These provisions aim to prevent conflicts of use and facilitate coexistence among pedestrians, cyclists, motorists, and EDPM users. The City encourages everyone to familiarize themselves with and respect these rules for a safer and more pleasant public space.
