As every autumn, Saint-Étienne-du-Grès is actively participating in the national awareness campaign against breast cancer. Initiated by the municipality, the CCAS, the young elected officials of the CMJ, and with the involvement of local shopkeepers and associations, several events are organized throughout the month to raise funds for research and emphasize the importance of early detection.
Last year, the generosity of the inhabitants allowed for the collection of €2,154.90, which was donated to organizations fighting the disease. The objective of this new edition is to further increase this collective contribution.
Throughout October, the town hall will be illuminated in pink each evening as a sign of solidarity. Donation boxes created by the Artistic Association are also placed in local shops to receive contributions from customers.
A special event is planned in the village center on Saturday, October 17th. The morning will begin with a 2-hour hike, accessible to all, starting at 9 AM (registration from 8:30 AM). A flat participation fee of a minimum of €5 is requested, and participants are advised to wear appropriate clothing and bring a water bottle.
A medical information booth will also be offered by local nurses at Square Dorlhac de Borne, focusing on self-examination techniques and support networks. Stands selling artisanal creations, fresh roses, pastries, and take-away paella will be run by various associations and businesses.
Stage performances, including singing by Manon Ladoré and Note d’Art’istes, followed by a collective Zumba session led by Myriam Martorel, will entertain the morning. Participation in these activities is based on a free donation.
“"€2154.90 collected in 2025. The people of Grès are generous and will undoubtedly be so again this year!"
