Five innovative projects, supported by a call for projects from the Écrins National Park and funded by patronage, aim to promote inclusion and nature discovery for people with disabilities in the Hautes-Alpes.

The AIDE (Inclusive Adventure for Discovering the Écrins) call for projects, launched in April 2026 with a budget of €3,000 from patronage between the OFB and the GMF Covea group, aimed to develop accessibility offerings in the region. Five initiatives, all organized in the Hautes-Alpes, were selected to realize nature outings that foster sharing between able-bodied and non-able-bodied individuals.
In the Valgaudemar valley, the association Le Fauteuil Vagabond entered three teams using joëlettes in the C'est coâa ? walking rally around Saint-Firmin on August 8th. The adventure captivated all participants, who highlighted the joy of discovering nature on the trails. A photo exhibition showcasing this mode of transport was also presented to the public.
On September 6th, in Champsaur, the association Signes en Cimes organized an art and hiking day around Saint-Julien-en-Champsaur. This initiative allowed participants to discover the valley in sign language and meet two local artists. Attendees could create their own basketry object and explore poetic texts on a trail.
Two associations, Nouvel Envol 05 and HASAC 05, pooled their resources for a nature weekend on September 19th and 20th at the Tourond refuge. Participants hiked to the Pisse waterfall and a resurgence, using tools from the park's disability kit.
The CDSA 05 (Departmental Committee for Adapted Sports) also received funding for a mountain project that began in September. Participants engage in monthly physical preparation and mountain activities, including hiking, orienteering, climbing, and this winter, ice climbing, snowshoeing, and cross-country skiing. The ultimate goal is a trip to the Glacier Blanc in 2027.
A final project, led by APF France Handicap, initially planned for September but postponed to spring 2027 due to weather, will take place in Champsaur. It involves a day of accessible and adapted mountain discovery for young people facing social difficulties, children under social services care, individuals with intellectual and/or physical disabilities, and families.
Olivier Lefrançois, disability referent at the National Park, expressed satisfaction with the positive outcome of the call for projects, emphasizing the motivation of associative structures and the importance of financial support in fostering promising initiatives and strengthening ties between the Park and disability-focused associations.
Although blindness was not addressed in the selected projects, the National Park already collaborates with the association Alpes Regards 05 for activities planned in 2027 in Châteauroux-les-Alpes.
