Volunteers from the Mouriès Archaeological Group (GAM) dedicated a day to maintaining the Caisses de Jean-Jean site, clearing vegetation to better reveal the remains of this Mouriès oppidum.

Following recent heatwaves, several volunteers from the Mouriès Archaeological Group (GAM) visited the Caisses de Jean-Jean site in Mouriès. The main goal was to prepare for future maintenance work on the oppidum and to clear several areas overgrown with vegetation in recent months. This intervention helps make the remains more visible and continues the enhancement of this local heritage.
The GAM team focused on specific zones, particularly around the oppidum's fortified gate and near the communal hall situated against the cliff. This meticulous and time-consuming work improves the site's discovery for visitors and allows for seasonal monitoring, helping to identify areas needing further intervention.
The mobilization of Cathy, Hélène, and Jacquote was crucial for this maintenance day. The municipality of Mouriès warmly thanks them for their commitment. Thanks to their dedication and that of other GAM members, fieldwork continues, contributing to the recognition of the village's history and heritage.
The GAM is planning further maintenance sessions, the organization of which will depend on the weather and volunteer availability. The preservation of the Caisses de Jean-Jean is a priority for Mouriès, ensuring more legible remains and continued enhancement. The GAM's work is long-term, thanks to the constant commitment of its members.
