For the National Resilience Day, two guided hikes are offered to explore the landscapes of the Avance and Durance, and to understand natural risks such as floods, torrential flows, and landslides. These outings aim to teach participants how to better protect themselves by deciphering and observing these phenomena.
Organized with the support of the Fonds Barnier and as part of the STEPRIM strategy, these activities are accessible to ages 10 and up. They offer a unique opportunity to enjoy the autumn colors while learning to read the mountain and understand human adaptation to a sometimes unpredictable environment.
The first outing, titled 'Torrent and Hooded Maidens of Théus', will take place on Sunday, October 18th from 10 AM to 3 PM. Led by Simon Cambrézy from Autres Versants, it will involve a 3.5-hour walk (456m elevation gain, 6km) focusing on the geology and natural phenomena at the heart of the hooded maidens and the torrent of Théus. Bringing a picnic is recommended.
The second outing will be held on Saturday, October 24th from 9 AM to 12:30 PM, at the Faudon site. Lasting 2.5 hours (200m elevation gain, 6km), it will be led by Joëlanne Rhodes of Symbiose Randonnées Nature. The program includes geology, fossils, and landscape interpretation.
Registration for both free events is mandatory and must be made with the Serre-Ponçon Vallées Tourist Office, located at La Croix Saint-Philippe on the Col de Moissière. Practical information will be provided upon registration.
