The association Les rêves de Lana organized a waste collection event involving the intercommunal area between Bormes-les-Mimosas and Le Lavandou. The call gathered about fifty participants, who came with family, friends, or out of civic duty.
The collection took place in a plain area. In just one hour, volunteers filled bags, once again revealing the extent of waste abandoned in our natural spaces.
In total, 300 kg of debris were collected. Among the unusual items found were a swimming pool with its bubble cover, a child's walker, a coffee machine, garden chairs, and a swing seat. The most striking figure remains 1 kg of cigarette butts, approximately 4,500 units. Knowing that a single cigarette butt can pollute up to 500 liters of water, the volunteers thus prevented the contamination of 2,250,000 liters!
For this operation, the town of Bormes-les-Mimosas provided gloves, trash bags, and collection tongs. The technical services, represented by Grégory Eynard, ensured shuttle services for waste removal to optimize the teams' collection time. The MPM community of communes provided the collection bins.
This initiative was once again driven by the association Les rêves de Lana, created in homage to a young resident of Bormes whose aspirations heartfeltly united environmental preservation, animal protection, and mutual aid for the most vulnerable.
