Each year, members of the Communal Forest Fire Committee (CCFF) review their past season's activities. This year, delegate president Jean-François Pradurat presented the figures to Mayor Didier Brémond and delegated deputy Mouloud Belaïdi. The CCFF currently comprises 38 volunteer team members, with 33 operational. To strengthen its teams, the Committee participated in the Associations Forum, where eight profiles were selected for an information meeting in late October, aiming to compensate for three to four anticipated departures.
Currently, the CCFF has 19 confirmed team members: 17 who have completed basic training and two former volunteer firefighters. From January 1st to September 20th, 270 patrols were carried out, covering 13,500 km. Awareness patrols regarding legal brushwood clearing obligations (OLD) were also deployed early in the year, although more work remains on regulation and awareness.
The team members were also mobilized for security missions during local events such as the Provence Verte marathon, Saint-Jean fires, and two fireworks displays. The number of patrols increased compared to 2025 (195 patrols), representing approximately 2,400 hours of volunteering.
Thanks to the training provided and the team members' diligence, no incidents were reported. Despite an increase in activity, averaging 16 patrols per member (compared to 12 in 2025), volunteers consistently responded, even in emergencies. Contact with the firefighters of Brignoles is excellent, with systematic information exchange on red alert days.
The July-August period saw 160 patrols, compared to 101 in 2025. This 30% increase is attributed to more high-risk days, requiring the use of all three vehicles, including the oldest. The delegate president highlighted the use of 50,000 liters of water in 2026, versus 10,000 liters in 2025, advocating for the purchase of a new water tanker vehicle.
Training remains a priority, with a full schedule for patrollers. All members who patrolled have validated their training, ensuring safe and effective interventions. A refresher session is planned for spring 2027. The CCFF also continues its communication mission with children, organizing events in Brignoles schools to promote nature preservation and fire risk awareness. Brushwood clearing awareness patrols will resume in December.
