Drought: Water resources in Pays de Fayence remain strained despite rain

Recent rainfall has not significantly replenished groundwater levels, leading to continued water usage restrictions.

Despite recent rainfall and the return of cooler weather, water resources in the Pays de Fayence remain under strain. Water usage restrictions are still in effect in the Var department.

Precipitation recorded between Monday, October 6, and Friday, October 9, 2026, totaling 44.4 mm of rain in Mons, has been beneficial for vegetation and soils. However, it has not led to a significant recovery of local water resources.
The 'Météo des sources' (Water Source Weather) report shows minimal changes in filling levels: the Siagnole source increased from 40% to 42%, the Neïsson from 29% to 32%, the Camandre from 6% to 7%, and Pérus 2 from 64% to 65%. Other monitored sources show unchanged levels. These slight increases are considered insufficient after several months of drought, requiring regular rainfall for sustainable replenishment.
Consequently, water usage restrictions remain applicable throughout the territory. It is particularly important to adhere to watering bans, vehicle washing prohibitions, and restrictions on filling or draining swimming pools, while postponing non-essential water uses. Daily actions such as taking shorter showers, turning off water when not in use, and monitoring for leaks are also encouraged.
The situation remains concerning despite this autumn contribution. The return of rain does not signify the end of the drought, and the preservation of this essential resource requires continued collective effort where 'every drop counts'.
